The Rotaract Club of Shanghai (RACS) is a non-profit social organization composed of young professionals and graduate students living in Shanghai that is involved in cultural activities and volunteer projects around China. It is the first of its kind in Mainland China, and one of more than 7600 Rotaract clubs all over the world with an active membership of over 180,000. Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Shanghai, the RACS plans and executes voluntary, social, fellowship and leadership projects to develop its members into skilled and socially responsible world citizens.

Our club was chartered in December 2007, and has an active membership of over 20 members.

Essentially, the organization thrives on the humanitarian ideas of future leaders, which last year had successfully created such projects as migrant schoolchildren fieldtrips, food collections, impoverished private school renovations, orphanage activities, and more!

Rotaract is a Rotary-sponsored service club for young men and women ages 18 to 30. Rotaract clubs are part of a global effort to bring peace and international understanding to the world. This effort starts at the community level but knows no limits in its outreach. This makes them true "partners in service" and key members of the family of Rotary.

The goals of Rotaract are:

1. To develop professional and leadership skills;
2. To emphasize respect for the rights of others, and to promote ethical standards and the dignity of all useful occupations;
3. To provide opportunities for young people to address the needs and concerns of the community and our world;
4. To provide opportunities for working in cooperation with sponsoring Rotary clubs;
5. To motivate young people for eventual membership in Rotary.
